Real estate in Mallorca – Discover Deià, Valldemossa and Sóller

Real estate in Mallorca – Discover Deià, Valldemossa and Sóller

Among the unrivalled beauty of the island the west region of Mallorca, made up of a cluster of towns and villages spread across the UNESCO protected Tramuntana Mountains, truly stands out.  If you are seeking peace and tranquillity, this is the area to head for, with villages strung out along the coastline and across the mountain tops and beautiful remote beaches where you can spend a relaxing afternoon, whilst soaking up the 300 days of sunshine that Mallorca typically enjoys.

Living in the area of Deià, Valldemossa and Sóller

The villages that are scattered across the west region range from the bustling port of Port de Sóller, connected by a vintage wooden tram with Sóller Town, to the mountain top dwelling of Valldemossa, historically associated with Chopin and his partner, the author George Sand. Sóller is historically the home of its famous oranges that made the island’s fortune as they were exported around the world, and the town still features many large houses that were originally built by merchants from the region. Deià, nestled high on the coast with access to beautiful and remote beaches, has also had its fair share of famous literary residents, including poet and author Robert Graves, and is now home to the Belmond La Residencia. This famous five-star hotel, recently bought by the luxury conglomerate LVMH, has a spectacular spa for pampering sessions and also boasts the restaurant El Olivo, led by executive chef Guillermo Méndez.

The area is a 30-minute transfer from Palma Airport, with easy connections across Europe and beyond. International schools such as Green Valley and the Montessori school in Santa Maria del Cami are less than a 20-minute drive away, offering English language education at both primary and secondary levels. There are also German, French, and Swedish language schools in Palma centre.

Real estate in the Tramuntana Mountains

Mallorca presents a strong real estate market with an extensive range of property options. The variety of properties along the west coast ranges from new-built apartments on the seafront, to traditional townhouses in the inland villages, to luxury country houses with land and swimming pools in the mountains. One thing this area can guarantee is privacy, with private estates tucked away along with the mountain range, many with spectacular views. And it’s not just Sóller, Valldemossa and Deià that are attractive to investors, there are also villages such as Fornalutx, Banyalbufar, Llucalcari, and to the south, Estellencs, that offer enchanting townhouses, as well as prestigious estates with views towards the azure sea, all off the beaten track. Although property in this area is in high demand, due to the lower density of population compared to other areas of the island, market supply is less.

Regardless of whether you are buying a townhouse, finca or apartment or whether you decide to sell your property in Sóller - Engel & Völkers is the experienced and competent partner at your side.
