The insights:

How many years have you been with the company?

I have been with Engel & Völkers Llucmajor for 10 years.

How long have you been living in Mallorca?

I have been living in Mallorca since April 1994, which means I have been enjoying the island for 31 years.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in NRW (Western Germany) , in the Ruhr region, affectionately known as "the Pott." It is a place famous for the cheerful and outspoken nature of its people.

What made you move to Mallorca?

Without a doubt, what attracted me to Mallorca was its climate, its stunning natural beauty, and its international atmosphere, which make it an ideal place to settle. But what truly made me fall in love was its lifestyle: life here is lived outdoors, you enjoy the company of friends who become family, and there is a unique positive energy. I love the generosity of the people in Mallorca; there is no envy—on the contrary, people sincerely celebrate others' success and share what they have, no matter how much or how little. This mindset creates a special community where it is a joy to live.

What do you like most about the island?

What fascinates me most about Mallorca is its incredible diversity. Here, you have everything: the sea, mountains, the city, and charming villages—all within a short distance. Even though there are really only two seasons a year, each one has its own charm, and the light transforms the landscapes, making the same place look completely different depending on the time of day. Additionally, the island offers extraordinary culinary richness and a multicultural community, which makes it even more vibrant and special.

What made you want to go into real estate and how did you end up at Engel & Völkers?

I have always been passionate about working with people and helping them find something that truly fits their needs. Real estate allows me to do exactly that: connect people with their ideal home—something I find incredibly rewarding. Mallorca, with its unique lifestyle and diverse offerings, is the perfect place to do this.

Engel & Völkers always caught my attention because of its professionalism and international approach. When the opportunity arose to join the Llucmajor team, I did not hesitate. Here, I found a dynamic work environment, exceptional colleagues, and a philosophy that aligns perfectly with my way of working: guiding each client with dedication and a personal touch through one of the most important decisions of their lives.

What is something you like the most at your job?

What I enjoy most about my job is helping people find their ideal home in a place as special as Mallorca. Each client has unique needs and desires, and it is very rewarding to guide them through such a significant process. I also value the variety each day brings—meeting people from different cultures and experiencing the satisfaction of seeing my clients happy with their decisions. Every transaction is unique, which keeps my work exciting and full of new challenges.

Tell us about your favorite (or most memorable) sale or agreement with a client:

Every sale is special to me because each client is unique, and every process has its own particularities. Some cases are easier, others more complex, and properties vary in value, but what truly matters is listening to each person and understanding their needs to find the perfect home for them. The greatest satisfaction comes from knowing that I have helped someone find the place where they will build their life.

As a foreigner, have you ever felt unaccepted?

Although I have lived in Mallorca longer than I did in Germany, I will always be "the German" to my close circle of friends. They say it affectionately, mainly because I am the only one who arrives on time for our meetings, parties, and dinners—and because I am very organized when it comes to scheduling!

Despite this, I have always felt very welcomed. The people of Mallorca are warm and generous, and they made me feel part of the community from day one. I have never felt unaccepted—quite the opposite: people here value diversity and different perspectives, which makes living on the island an enriching and very rewarding experience.
