Exclusive retreats - Hidden gems on Mallorca

Welcome to a journey through the hidden treasures of Mallorca! Beyond the well-known tourist routes lies a world of unspoilt nature, historical gems and authentic villages waiting to be discovered. Join us as we offer you an insight into the true heart of Mallorca.

Banyalbufar in the Tramuntana mountains

The Tramuntana mountain range forms the backbone of the west coast of Mallorca. A UNESCO World Heritage Site for over a decade, the Tramuntana offers a breathtaking panorama of steep cliffs, dense forests and picturesque valleys. In this section, which stretches from Andratx to Pollença in the north, there are many idyllic small towns and villages that have always been ideal for day trips around the island. While Valldemossa with its Carthusian monastery and Soller with its wooden tramway have always remained popular destinations for visitors, other villages have developed into real insider tips. For those who also want to lose themselves in the dream of the Tramuntana, but still desire a little variety and exclusivity, we now introduce you to a very special place.

This hidden gem is called Banyalbufar. Surrounded by farmhouses, wineries, coastal cliffs and, of course, the Sierra de Tramuntana, Banyalbufar stands out as a small yet incredibly ornate town. It is best known for the cultivation of the sought-after Malvasia grape, but is also home to the active fishing harbour of Es Port de Canonge. In this municipality you will find magnificent houses and estates scattered around the steps of the wineries and in the centre of the village. Most of these remarkable buildings are decorated with traditional Mallorcan quarry stone walls and painted in white and sand-coloured tones. The colour accents in pine green or Tiffany blue, which are set by the shutters, create a stylistic harmony with the pigments of the surrounding vegetation and the nearby sea. This architectural vein running through Banyalbufar allows the community to blend in perfectly with the mountain ranges. A truly beautiful place to settle down in an exclusive property.

The former fishing villages of Colonia de Sant Pere and Betlem

Hidden away in the north-eastern corner of the island you will find two tranquil towns, offering a peaceful settlement in the midst of the "authentic Mallorca" away from the tourist swarm. Colonia Sant Pere and Betlem both provide unique experiences on Mallorca for those seeking serenity, privacy and a connection with nature.

Colonia de Sant Pere, a sanctuary in the southeast of the Bay of Alcudia, welcomes visitors with an intimate atmosphere exuding its own natural charm. Despite some commercial developments planned in the 60s, this secluded spot has largely remained untouched by hotels. The town’s harbour offers picturesque scenery where you can marvel at fishing boats and luxurious yachts, which often make their first stop on the island here. The stunning bay provides the perfect backdrop to relax and unwind.

Southeast Cala Moro

Betlem, on the other hand, is off the beaten track and enchants visitors with its unspoilt nature and the abandoned Ermita de Betlem monastery. This historical jewel is an important cultural monument and is home to religious and secular artefacts. The picturesque avenue of cypress trees leads to the neoclassical monastery chapel with its majestic marble altar. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, the monastery offers a spiritual oasis. Hiking trails lead to magnificent viewing platforms in the mountains and to the refreshing Sa Font spring. Betlem is also home to the Club de Golf Canyamel, one of the best golf courses in the world with impressive sea views.

All in all, the north-east with the well-known towns of Colonia Sant Pere and Betlem offers a retreat for nature lovers and those seeking relaxation who want to experience the authentic Mallorca far away from the hustle and bustle.

The jewels of the west coast S'Arraco and Sant Elm

Situated between the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains and the coast, this charming jewel captivates with its traditional Mallorcan flair and relaxed atmosphere. The narrow streets of S'Arracó are lined with rustic stone houses adorned with colourful flowers. In the small squares and cosy cafés, residents and visitors can experience the authentic way of life of the locals and enjoy the delicious local cuisine. For nature lovers, the surroundings of S'Arracó offer numerous hiking trails through olive groves and pine forests that lead to breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. With a sunny serenity and proximity to the region's beaches and mountains, S'Arracó offers an attractive setting for holiday homes and permanent residences.

A short trip along the coast takes you along a spectacular winding road to Sant Elm. This small idyllic paradise will seduce you with its unspoilt beaches and crystal-clear waters, which invite you to snorkel and relax. Enjoy the view of the island of Dragonera, a nature reserve that will delight you with its unique flora and fauna. For the more adventurous, the Andratx region with the villages of S'Arracó and Sant Elm offers numerous hiking trails and opportunities for outdoor activities. Climb the nearby Puig de Galatzó and enjoy spectacular views over the coast and the Tramuntana mountains. Discover Mallorca off the beaten track and be enchanted by the beauty and tranquillity of the west coast.

The picturesque bay of Cala Figuera

Arguably the most beautiful bay on the island, Cala Figuera is located on the south-east coast of Mallorca and offers its visitors a breathtaking backdrop of turquoise blue water and a multitude of small fishing boats bobbing on it. As you stroll through the narrow streets, you are greeted by whitewashed buildings adorned with vibrant bougainvillea flowers, creating a cinematic scene at every turn. The dark green shutters and gates of the boathouses harmonise perfectly with the green accents of the magnificent fig trees that rise along the shoreline like guardians of the coast. Its name, Cala Figuera, is therefore a tribute to the majestic trees that surround it.

The harbour, reminiscent of the majestic fjords of Norway, offers freshly caught fish in its typically Mediterranean restaurants. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the coast while dining by the water. Despite its popularity with tourists, Cala Figuera has managed to retain its authentic character and offers a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether strolling along the promenade or simply soaking up the sun's rays, Cala Figuera in the south-east of the island offers a truly enriching experience for all, including exciting property deals in the area.
